We’re excited to introduce a better way to manage Entity tagging when uploading documents — all designed to enhance your workflow and improve the user experience.
What’s Changing?
Previously, our system would automatically tag documents with the entity assigned to the folder they were uploaded to. If you wanted to override that and assign a different entity, you had to find a small button tucked away at the bottom of the upload window — and we know this was often missed.
Now, you’ll be prompted just once to choose how you want the system to handle Entity tagging going forward:
Your Options:
Automatically Inherit Entities
This will automatically apply the folder's entity to all uploaded documents, just like before — but without needing to click anything extra.
Manually Select Entities
This lets you override the folder’s entity each time you upload.
You’ll be asked to confirm the entity for every upload. If you’re using the Entity filter, your filtered selection will be shown as the default — you’ll just need to confirm.
Tip: Make sure to click “Do not ask me again” if you want to save your choice and skip future prompts. Otherwise, you’ll be asked every time.
What will happen when uploading Files?
Upload using the Plus Button or Drag-and-drop uploads still work the same way.
- If you selected manual entity selection, you’ll be asked to confirm the entity after the drag-and-drop.
- If you selected auto-inherit, no further action is needed.
How You Can Update Your Entity Tagging Preferences?
You can always change your default behavior later:
- Go to your Account Settings
- Navigate to Preferences > Entities
- Choose from:
- Ask me every time: It will show you the 2 option every time a file is uploaded
- Automatic: automatically apply the folder's entity to all uploaded document
- Manual: confirm the entity for every upload.
